Juliah Wamuyu Mwangi

“I love my job as every day is a learning experience for me. I joined Highlands as an Office assistant in August, 2006. I left the company for a while and later rejoined in May 2010 as an Administrative secretary. Currently, I am the Procurement officer in charge of imports and outbound/inbound logistics which involve interacting with different global suppliers, keeping up to date with the customs due to tariff and rules changes in the import/export sector in the country, procurement process management and co-ordination of export orders to the East African region. I have gained various skills including people management, analytical and problem solving skills among others. My most memorable experience is when I managed to resolve a shipment issue that would have costed the company millions with the help of my boss at the time. The freedom to resolve work related matters without interference from my immediate supervisor unless need be brings out the best in me.”

Laurent Ongoma Odanga

“I joined as a Stock controller – finished goods in April 2011. Over the years, I have held various positions including procurement coordinator and stock controller – raw materials. In my current role as a loading supervisor, my day to day job entails ensuring customer delivery vehicles are loaded promptly, ensure goods loaded are of good quality and the right quantity, preparation of pick lists for invoice generation and management of the casual staff (loaders). At Highlands, I have gained exposure through interacting and learning from my colleagues. Stock management skills, Computer proficiency especially in SAP and people management skills are among the skills and experience I have gained at Highlands.”

Humphrey Ng’ang’a Njenga

“Highlands provides a very enabling environment for both professional and personal growth.” I joined Highlands as a Quality controller in 2007. In 2011, I became the Senior blender in the syrup section and was later promoted to the Quality control team leader in 2014. I’m currently the Production Unit leader, a job which involves execution of production plans, optimization of Line Utilizations, Maximizing line efficiencies, Identifying production benchmarks and best practices, Setting goals and targets for improvement, Ensuring compliance to Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) programs as well as managing, developing and coaching staff. I have gained a lot of experience and skills in regards to Quality and product compliance, New Product Development, Project management, Leadership and management. My most memorable experience is the inception of the Club carbonated soft drink in the Highlands Products portfolio and the commissioning of a high capacity line to meet the increased demand for Club Sodas”
Production Supervisor managing the Casual Workers

Esther Nunga Mwangi

“I joined Highlands on 18th December in the year 2005 as a Casual Worker. Currently, I am the Production Supervisor managing the Casual Workers as they conduct the ongoing production at the plant depending on the Day or Night shift. Over the years I have held three positions: A cleaner, Operator and Welfare Manager. At Highlands, I enjoy the teamwork spirit exuded especially between the CEO and the production team, making sure we deliver quality beverage products to our esteemed consumers. Challenges are a common facet in any business. It’s these challenges that have shaped me in gaining seamless planning and problem-solving skills. I have also gained social skills as I have interacted and worked with people from varied backgrounds. They say, “experience is the best teacher”; At Highlands, I have had the pleasant experience of operating production machines and I can now operate some of them confidently. The year 2014, remains my most memorable moment as that’s the year Club Soda, a Carbonated Soft Drink was launched and introduced into the market. This has added immense value to my professional and personal development as well as increased our company’s product offering and value as a whole. ”
